GBT is excited to announce you will be receiving an upgrade in services in the very near future! GBT is investing over $1 million to replace the coaxial infrastructure currently used to provide Internet, Streaming TV, and Voice services with state-of-the-art Fiber Optics. As a current customer of GBT, we thank you for your loyalty and want to inform you of our Fiber Project! 

Beginning immediately, you will notice technicians from GBT, along with Trans-Tel, a telecommunications subcontractor of GBT, constructing and hanging Fiber Optics throughout St. John. The initial phase will involve crews hanging Fiber Optic mainline from pole to pole, which typically is in the alleyways. GBT expects this process to take approximately 3 months to complete. 

Once the Fiber Optic mainline has been completed, GBT crews will then hang aerial Fiber drops to each home. These Fiber drops will be running parallel and connected to your home at the same location where your coaxial drop is located today. Once the Fiber drops are in place, a GBT representative will contact you to schedule a time we can convert your home’s services over to Fiber. We anticipate starting Fiber installs to your home as soon as June.

It also offers increased bandwidth capacity with speeds up to 1000Mbps also known as a GIG, and our Internet speeds will be symmetrical, meaning the same download and upload speeds. When we switch you over to Fiber, GBT will automatically upgrade your upload speed at no additional cost!
